VITA

Massimo graduated in Physics with emphasis in optical characterisation of semiconductor quantum structure at the University “La Sapienza” in Rome in 2000.

From 2000 to 2002 he worked as research fellow in the R&D department in a solar cell company in Nettuno (Italy). In 2005 he received a PhD in Physics from the University of Marburg (Germany) based on a work carried out in collaboration with Infineon AG in Munich on optical characterisation of laser structures during the period 2003-2005.

In 2011 Massimo became European patent attorney after a training period at a paten law firm in Munich. In 2014 he obtained the Diploma in patent litigation in Europe (D.E.S.U.) after a distance learning course in Patent Litigation in Strasbourg (France) organised by EPI-CEIPI.

In 2016 Massimo became Italian patent attorney and collaborates with Klunker IP since 2017.

Beside family life, Massimo enjoys hobbies like reading, cooking, traveling and sport activities like biking and running.

AREAS OF PRACTICE

Since he started his legal training as European patent attorney, Massimo has been mainly working on prosecution and opposition cases before the EPO.

After becoming European patent attorney, Massimo worked as freelancer with different IP law firms located in Germany and Italy gaining experience in drafting patent applications and attending oral proceedings before the EPO.

During the period of legal training as Italian patent attorney, Massimo had the possibility to work on several cases on prosecution and post-grant processes. In particular, Massimo was involved in opposition, litigation, and invalidation.

Massimo also is active in prior art search and freedom to operate analysis and collaborates as technical expert in some litigation cases in Italy.

Massimo’s technical expertise includes general physics, semiconductors, electronics, photovoltaics, medical devices, optics, electro-optics, material science, photonics and related fields.
